How to run Windows Experience Index (WEI) on Windows 8.1

You might have noticed that the Windows Experience Index stuff is gone in the later versions of Windows.

It is still there though, there just isn’t an interface for it anymore. To run it, open PowerShell as Administrator and run:

WinSat PrePop
WinSat Formal
Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_WinSat

.csharpcode, .csharpcode pre
font-size: small;
color: black;
font-family: consolas, “Courier New”, courier, monospace;
background-color: #ffffff;
/*white-space: pre;*/
.csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; }
.csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; }
.csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; }
.csharpcode .str { color: #006080; }
.csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; }
.csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; }
.csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; }
.csharpcode .html { color: #800000; }
.csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; }
.csharpcode .alt
background-color: #f4f4f4;
width: 100%;
margin: 0em;
.csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; }

The first command runs the tests. The second processes the results and updates the output directory and the Get-WmiObject PowerShell command goes and gets the results via WMI. The result is something like this:

except you presumably have better scores! I ran into all of this because a computer I bought recently was killing me with how slow it was (CPU-wise, if you can believe it). I picked up a new mobo and CPU and wanted to be able to see the before and after.
