Since Reflector now costs, here is a free replacement

Reflector now costs $35 from Red Gate – which I (and many others) don’t enjoy. Red Gate tried to gain all this “street cred” by saying it would always be free… Now, when the rubber hits the road, they caved and made it yet another paid-product.

So, if you’re like me you’re looking for a free replacement – a simple tool that should be free. It’s not complicated, it doesn’t need constant updating, it just needs to be a simple tool. Well, I found one that works for me, so I’m endorsing it here:

This is basically what Reflector always was and all it needs to be. I didn’t have an old copy of the old/free version of Reflector laying around, so I’m officially switching over to ILSpy.

Since this blog post, these two other products were suggested to me too:

Telerik Decompiler (in beta)

JetBrains DotPeek
